Spiritual Warfare for Women by Leighann McCoy

Spiritual Warfare for Women: Winning the Battle for Your Home, Family, and FriendsIn McCoy’s book, she talks about spiritual warfare and how it impacts Christian women.  However, rather than focusing on the warfare, her primary purpose is to encourage women to spend their time focusing on good (rather than evil).

McCoy has a great analogy comparing training for marines versus training for life as a Christian. Marine training is an intense, regimented process whereas Christians may be more complacent in their preparation to stand against spiritual battles.   It’s important to always be ready, knowing who you are as Christian rather than waiting for things that may happen.

Some parts of the book do not apply to everyone, such as when she speaks to wives and mothers.  However, since these are separate chapters, it’s easy to focus on the chapters that apply to your situation.  In every section, she offers encouragement to all women, noting that regardless of a person’s past, God can use her.

The main takeaways for me are to always trust God (Proverbs 3:5-6) and never forget that we are made in His image.
