Click Millionaires by Scott Fox

Too many people wake up Monday morning dreading another workweek.  In “Click Millionaires”, Scott Fox shares ideas for starting an online business that can be run from anywhere.  He offers practical suggestions with case studies of people who have achieved success online.

Start by defining what success is to you. Fox takes the reader through exercises to  design the lifestyle they want to live.  This is probably the most helpful part in the book, since it goes beyond the simple “How much money do you want to make?” or “What kind of work do you want to do?”  Instead, Fox drills down, asking you to imagine your ideal day, along with defining your favorite non-work activities.  Not until you’ve defined your lifestyle can you consider the “best internet lifestyle businesses,” such as digital publishing, blogging, podcasting, and social networking.

After defining the lifestyle you want to live, then it's time to think about your niche.  Fox stresses the importance of not trying to serve “everyone”.  Instead, focus on a specific group of people that can benefit from what you’re selling and where you have an opportunity to become an expert.  In time you can build this expertise and grow a loyal audience interested in what you offer.

Am I ready to quit my regular 9am - 5pm job?  No.  But do I think the internet has opened new possibilities for nontraditional careers?  Absolutely. Whether you hate your job, are unemployed, or perfectly content with your current employment, you'll walk away with some new ideas on how to make money online.
