Cold Wind by C.J. Box

Cold Wind
I flew through this book in two nights. The mother-in-law of the main character (Joe Pickett) is accused of murdering her husband. Joe's in a tough position because as much as he can't stand the woman, he tries to be somewhat objective for his wife's sake.

The second story involves his estranged friend, Nate Romanowski. Some may see Nate's story as a bit far-fetched -- I thought it was rather entertaining. Nate's story left me wanting to read more about him and what's next.
I did enjoy this book, but think I would have enjoyed it more if I read other Joe Pickett books in sequence. Although I've read a couple books with this character, there were some back-stories that I didn't follow. If you like the whodunit genre, I recommend starting from the beginning of the series before you get to this one.

My disclaimer: I received this book for free as a Goodreads winner.
