Jesus: Pure & Simple by Wayne Cordeiro

The Christian gospel can be overly complicated.  People seek new ways to present it or try to understand every theological detail rather than focusing simply on Jesus.  Getting caught up in presentation style or giving people the fire-hose treatment when it comes to scripture takes away from the core message of Jesus.  Rather than looking to complicated programming or strategies to tell others about him, Christians should START with Him and everything else will fall into place.

Cordeiro presents a fair assessment of today’s culture, noting that we’re very distracted with the things around us that can keep us from seeing him.  And we can easily get caught up in a Christian subculture rather than boldly taking his message to the world. For Christians, the focus needs to first be on a relationship with him.  How close are we following what Jesus says and does?  Are we becoming tolerant to cultural changes that aren’t in line with biblical principles?

Jesus: Pure & Simple is exactly that.  It does not get bogged down with theology and is helpful for people in any stage of their Christian journey.  This book will bring Christians back to the basics and also give non-believers an understanding of the gospel message and what Jesus means.

Disclaimer: I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.
